The community of international teachers is small and as a result, it can be really comforting and familiar. But the thing is, I didn’t move across the globe for the same old stuff! So last night, I went to a place where I have never gone before… a cooking class!
Yes, the cereal for dinner girl took a cooking class and it was really fun! And let me tell you, I can whisk with the best of them. I made Cumin Flavored Chick Pea Soup (delicious), Garlic Scented Pilaf (seriously yummy), Battered Chicken with Honey and Onions (meh…), and Clotted Cream Dessert (great with red wine). Don’t’ get me wrong, I am a great baker and I can make a fantastic spaghetti sauce, but a chef I am not.
Growing up, my mom and dad demonstrated daily how cooking not only has the potential to inspire but to also comfort people. It’s a great way to open up your home and share a little about yourself. As a result, I am making some potato soup next Wednesday with some friends at my place… Potato Soup Wednesday!
Some other people heard about the class and want to get in on the next session. Hopefully, I will be able to add culinary enthusiast to my resume very soon. Life certainly is potatotastic!
Way to go, Claire – looks delicious! Potato Wednesday sounds fun and comforting. Let us know how it goes! Love you and Happy Thanksgiving!
I know it’s in your genetic code for sure. Happy to hear you now wear a chef’s hat! Bon appetit!!!!!!!
Looks like you’ve officially graduated from cereal for dinner 🙂 I’m sure your mom is proud of your cooking/hostess skills!
